Gain The Training Advantage of BPO Staffing

Henry Ford held this gut-punch view of training in the workplace: “The only thing worse than training your employees and having them leave is not training them and having them stay.” What’s worse is contracting with a business-service outsourcing (BPO) firm that doesn’t properly train its staff to ensure that your fleet operation runs efficiently, safely, and successfully.

Do the outsourced services cover all your key aspects?

A straightforward way to measure that is by reviewing whether the BPO provider is doing everything as you would. A critical factor is how well do their staffers communicate with your drivers, including for starters:

·         Are they clearly conveying each task required of drivers?

·         Are they following up on driver tasks in a timely manner

·         Are they staying on top of delays and promptly advising drivers?

·         Are they proactive in ways that make life on the road easier for your drivers?

For things to run smoothly 24/7 on days, nights and weekends for the carrier and its drivers, BPO staffers must be trained to clearly communicate in the moment with their fellow staffers. For example, when a staffer completes a shift, not only their tasks need to be completed. They also need to advise the next person on duty what should be followed up on. A clear explanation of what’s coming up should be in the diligently kept notes of the staffer signing off so the next staffer can get to work without having to first work backwards. Hauling freight on time and safely leaves no room for “he said/she said” finger-pointing that leads exactly nowhere.

It's not just a straight-up numbers game.

How much the BPO team cares about doing the best job for the carrier is critical. Yes, this is harder to define; it gets down to checking all the myriad things that can make or break a shipment, from checking load temperatures to poring over documents. And it means handling complex situations like a driver having to wait at night to complete a load in California, but he can’t reach the dispatcher on the East Coast who’s gone home already. Haulmate staff would know how to deal with this because they are taken through all sorts of real-world scenarios in their training.

If preferred, Haulmate makes it possible to access highly trained dispatch and back office staff starting with just one or two staffers. They learn the specifics of your operation and your company culture. From there, your Haulmate staff can be built up to scale to match your changing needs.
